HKU physics Ph.D. student obtained the Higgs mode via dimensional crossover in quantum magnets revealing importance of dimensions in many-body systems

(The University of Hong Kong) By combining numerical and analytic analyses, the research team successfully explained revealed the clear presence of the Higgs mode in the quasi-1D quantum magnetic systems. The results not only can help to find out the key model parameters of the material but also reveal a picture of how dimension matters in the condensed material. These research finding has been published in one of the most prestigious journals in the field of physics -- Physical Review Letters.
